No Entry to UKCG Members' Sites Without Health & Safety Awareness
Workstream Construction Services Ltd, Bicester: July 15, 2014 – Members of the UK Contractors Group (UKCG), which represents the country's top contractors, are tightening up on site health and safety enforcement. People working on UKCG members' sites (including subcontractors) will in future have to show evidence that they've passed either the CITB one day Health and Safety Awareness course or the Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme course. This is in line with the UKCG standard introduced in 2012, and is in addition to any skill card such as CSCS.
"Our vision," says David Lambert, UKCG Head of Health and Safety, "is to enable our members, and their clients and suppliers, to build a world class, industry leading position in health and safety. We aim to make health and safety more simple, and to maintain the importance of competency without unnecessary bureaucracy. Our members' insistence that operatives meet the UKCG health and safety training standard is a big step towards the achievement of that aim."
Workstream candidates who have not yet taken the One Day Health and Safety Awareness course should book themselves in at the National Construction College or another CITBapproved training centre. The course costs from £120.00, inclusive of training materials, registration/ certification, and lunch and refreshments. Click here for details.
