home » recruitment » design/design management » temporary/contract » Design/AutoCad Engineer Our client, one of largest shop fitting companies in Europe, is seeking a Junior Cad Engineer for a short term contract which could lead to something more permanent depending on the successful applicants ability. Applicants should have either Inventor or Solidworks skills, with some AutoCAD knowledge being a benefit. Clients include major supermarket and fashion retails in the UK. Applicants ideally would have experience in design for manufacture and have worked in the drawing office of a small to medium sized metal fabrication company. The role would be operating in a constantly changing environment where team work and flexibility are all important. Clear and creative thinking, attention to detail and a precise approach are required. The ability to plan, organise and prioritise your tasks on a daily basis. A flexible attitude towards tasks and sales requests is necessary, as is the ability to work under the pressure that working for demanding blue chip retailers brings. Purpose and Responsibilities: • New product design of retail display equipment. • Existing product development and design for manufacture. • To produce engineering drawings for manufacture. • Translation of drawings between CAD systems and administration of drawing transmittal procedure between other ITAB companies. • Direct liaison with Business Managers and clients to generate new concepts. • Liaison with subcontractors to handle design and manufacturing queries. • Creation and maintenance of engineering data held on the MRP system (Jeeves) to enable manufacturing costs to be c alculated for the sales teams and also to allow internal business cost analysis to take place. • Estimation of costs for competitive tenders. • Attend sites to review products and concepts. • Creation of visuals and other sales literature for client approval. Qualifications/Experience: Either/Or: • Degree qualified with 1-2 years post graduate industry experience. Engineering degree preferred, but would consider Product Design • HND/HNC level with 4-5 years industry experience. Skills: • Sheet metal design knowledge (punching, forming, pressing, flat pattern creation). • Knowledge of metal fabrication and other light industrial production techniques. • Ability to create clear, easy to read drawings using AutoCAD or AutoDesk Inventor or similar 2D and 3D packages. • Computer literate, with proficiency in Excel. • Numerate. • Familiarity with 3D Viz or similar imaging software is an advantage. • Practical person.
